Hi everybody, this is Jackie from eslspeaking.org. So today's slang is third wheel. Third wheel. Maybe you've been a third wheel before.
If you have a couple friend, so a boyfriend or girlfriend, or boyfriend and boyfriend, or girlfriend and girlfriend. They're in a romantic relationship and they're dating each other and you hang out with them, you are the third wheel.
It can sometimes be good. I mean some people are cool, some couples are cool.
It can also be terrible. Maybe your two friends, the boyfriend-girlfriend, they're like kissing each other and they don't pay attention to you. In that case, being the third wheel is terrible and you want to avoid it at all costs. Other couples, I mean if they've been together for 10 years, it's not so bad.
Alright, that's the slang of the day: third wheel. Please check out my book: American English Slang over on Amazon.
