Hi everybody, this is jackie from eslspeaking.org. So today's slang expression is, hit the books. Hit the books. You don't actually hit the books, but it means, I have to study a lot.
So maybe you have a test tomorrow and your friend says, hey let's grab a beer. You could say, no I have to hit the books tonight.
Another example. If your friend says, what are you doing this weekend? Oh, I'm hitting the books. I have a test on Monday.
