Howdy, it's Jackie from eslspeaking.org. So today's slang is, all nighter. All-nighter means you don't sleep all night because you have to work or study. Maybe you have to finish a project or you have a test tomorrow.
If your friend says, "Hey, do you want to get a beer tonight?" You could say, "Oh no. I have to pull an all-nighter." Or, "I have to do an all-nighter." It means you are working all night or you were studying all night and not sleeping.
Alright, if you like this slang, please be sure to check out my book: American English Slang.
