So today I'm going to just give you a quick tip about how to speak English in a better way, just so you sound more professional or more like a native English speaker. The tip is about using contractions and then also about connected speech. When you're writing, it's fine to not use contractions. By contractions, I mean something like I am equals I'm. Or they are equals they're. When you're writing, it's no problem to write I am, they are, whatever. Or, if you're doing writing that's informal it's also fine to use contractions. It's also no problem. However, when you're speaking, always use contractions, even in a presentation, even in a job interview, use contractions. You'll sound very very strange if you don't. For example, if someone says, how are you? I am good. I am fine. It sounds bizarre quite honestly. So if someone says, how are you? Say, I'm good. I'm fine. I'm great. You do not need to say, I am fine. I am good, even in a job interview. You'll just sound like you actually don't speak English that well. Another example. If someone says, What are your kids doing? They are busy now. They are playing soccer. You don't need to say that. You could say, they're busy now, they're playing soccer. It just sounds so much better. The second thing is connected speech. So that's connecting words together. So a phrase like if someone says, What's your name? You don't need to say that slowly. Everybody knows that, What's your name? Say it as quickly as you want. Everybody will understand. Also, the answer. What's your name? My name is Jackie. It sounds so strange. Say it quickly: my name is Jackie. My name, is was combined into almost one word. What's your name? My name is jackie. You know it very well, say it quickly, it's no problem. Alright, that's my tip. Use contractions, and use connected speech for things like phrases that go together. Say them very quickly and you'll sound more like a speaking pro.
