So today's slang is keener. Keener is the opposite of a slacker. A keener is someone who does very well in school. They answer all the questions that the teacher asks. They're always studying and they get maybe A's or A-pluses in their classes. Some examples: - I was a keener in high school. I got very good grades. - My daughter is such a keener. She's always studying. I love it. It's perfect. A keener is kind of like, it's not a very negative word but it's also not really positive. It's kind of someone who studies maybe too much but is that a bad thing? I'm not sure. Anyway, if you say, Oh you're a keener. It's also a little bit negative. It's not entirely positive so be careful.
